Prior to 2007, the Punahou Boys Team had not won a State Championship in Wrestling since 1968.  This year the Buff N Blu repeat as the State Champion for back to back titles.  Not since 2001-2002 when the St Louis Crusaders accomplished this feat has a team won back to back titles.

Individually, Daniel Chow was one of 3 weight class winners for Punahou.  Chow, who was the State Champion at 140 pounds, took the title at 145 pounds.  Other Buff N Blu winners were Rudie Schaefer at 152 pounds, and Reid Oshiro at 125 pounds.
Lahainaluna, which came in 2nd in the team competition,  boasted 2 wrestlers who would repeat as State Champions.  Travis Okano and Lake Casco won the 130 and 160 pound divisions respectively.  Each were winners in lower weight classes last year.

For the Girls, the Lady Red Raiders from Kahuku won their 2nd State Team Championship in 3 years., their 4th in this decade.   A 46.5 margin separated the State Champions from 2nd place Iolani.

Danica Auna won her 2nd State Title in the 120 pounds class.  She was the reigning Champion in the 125 pound class.

Winning the 120 pound weight class was Tani Ader from Farrington.  She joins the exclusive group of historic wrestlers who have won 3 State Championships, doing so in 3 different weight classes.  In 2006 she won the 114 pound class.  In 2007 she moved up and claimed the 120 pound Championship.

Keiko Akamine also added another title to her wrestling career.  The Iolani wrestler won the 120 pound class after winning the 125 pound class in 2007.
